Delivery Driver / Warehouse Operative

The Job

  • Customer Order Packing
  • Packing of customer orders in preparation for daily deliveries avoiding damage and breakage of product.
  • Order picking and scanning
  • In cooperation with the Sales Executive and Delivery Schedule, loading the van according to the First In, Last Out principle
  • Deliveries
  • In accordance with Department Rota, deliver products to the correct destinations and at the required time. Report any delays, shortages or damages to management at the earliest opportunity.
  • Contribute to a safe working environment by observing the Company Health &
    Safety procedures. Drive in a safe, lawful and efficient manner, in all weather and traffic conditions, observing the recommendations of the highway code, therefore minimizing chance of accidents and damage to product and vehicle/ third party. In case of damage, immediate report to General Manager.
  • Receive ‘Payment on Delivery’ from customers as proof of delivery and payment. Give to Cashier in accordance with procedure promptly and correctly on daily basis.
  • Keep vehicle in a clean and tidy order. Wash and clean at least once a week.
  • As the safety and security of the load is the driver’s responsibility while it is in
    transit, look after and use any belts, straps chains, ropes etc. supplied with the
    vehicle or trailer, and ensure that they have an adequate supply of these for the
    load to be carried. All loaded goods must be distributed and secure in order to
    prevent any movement which could cause damage to the goods or to the trailer,
    Security of van – ensure loaded trailers parked overnight or at weekends are
    secured against theft. Loaded curtain-sided trailers should be parked together or
    otherwise blocked-in as an added security measure.
  • Details of any damaged goods from the delivery will be written on the delivery
    note by the customer. Therefore, ensure that the customer writes on the note
    whether they are keeping the damaged goods or returning them with you.
  • Boxes, Buckets and Trolleys
  • Ensuring we have enough boxes/crates for future deliveries, collecting useful boxes back from customers. All remaining useful lidded boxes must be stacked neatly on a Kooi. Boxes without lids are to be placed in the till area, and useless boxes to be flattened and placed in the skip.
  • Any buckets should be emptied and taken to the empty bucket area.
  • All empty delivery and plant trolleys must be wheeled to the loading bay area and ‘parked’ neatly. All empty customer trolleys should be ‘parked’ beneath the shelter in the car park.
  • Administration & Maintenance
  • Filling out Delivery sheets, registering amount of Returnables (auction boxes, buckets, extensions, crates, Danish trolleys, shelves) delivered and taken back, time etc.
  • Vehicle Defect Reports should be collected and handed into the Transport Supervisor every Friday.
  • Taking good care of customer shop keys and returning them each day in Key box
  • Keeping vehicles in good conditions, cleaned inside and outside regularly
  • MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES (WAREHOUSE OPERATIVE)
  • 1 Product presentation and pricing
  • Helping to unpack or unload the product.
  • Checking that supplier has send right quality and quantity and products meeting the Customer needs
  • Making sure all products are sleeved properly
  • Making sure all products are nicely displayed, empty buckets are removed
  • All products correctly bar-coded/priced on time
  • Stock Control
    1 Helping with the price reduction of older product and help controlling the wastage
    2 Be our eyes on the shop floor avoiding theft.
    3 Carrying out/Assisting with the stock take
  • General Jobs
    1 Assisting customers with heavy products/customer trolley’s etc.
    2 Helping in the transportation of any pallets, trolleys, boxes, buckets
    3 Ensuring that the department is kept swept and department floors are washed down once a week.
    4 To assist, as required, in all other areas of the JVV Cash and Carry.
    5 Ensure Department is organised, tidy and efficient. Making it attractive to Customers.
    6 Contributing to a safe working place and comply with our Health and Safety Procedures.
