Agapanthus

Origin

The Agapanthus, also known as the Lily of the Nile, is originally from South Africa. It is the only member of the subfamily Agapanthoideae within the Amaryllis family. The name Agapanthus comes from the Greek words “agape” (love) and “anthos” (flower).

Characteristics

Agapanthus are perennials, meaning they return year after year. The Agapanthus Amourette is available in the colour blue. The flowers are on long stems that rise above the green leaves.

Care

Agapanthus plants grow well in sunny place. They need regular watering during the growing season, especially during hot and dry periods. However, they can withstand drought better once they are well established.

Blooming time

The season for the agapanthus starts during spring and continues into summer. With proper care, your Agapanthus will remain in your garden for many years to come.
